This pop-up could appear when you open Instagram
Facebook appears to be flipping the key to the integration of Instagram and Messenger chat systems. On Friday night, several editors at The Code Venture across the country—both iOS and Android—recognized the update screen on Instagram’s mobile app with the message “There’s a New Way to Message on Instagram with a list of features, including a new colourful look for your chats, more emoji reactions, swipe-to-reply, and the big one: chat with friends who use Facebook”.
Once you hit the update, the standard DM icon at the top right of Instagram will be replaced by the Facebook Messenger logo. Instagram chats are now more vibrant than ever, with the sender’s messages changing as you switch between blue and purple. However, at least for now, it’s still not possible to send users to Facebook from Instagram.
Facebook has been reported to upgrade the underlying network so that people on one of its apps can connect to others using different Facebook apps. Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook also said that he wanted to encrypt the platform from end to end. By combining its most common features, Facebook can interact more directly with Apple’s iMessage.
